About Dylan Dittes

Reform Home Co. is my new business. I’m Dylan Dittes, a second-generation craftsman, and I plan, build, and install custom cabinetry, built-ins, shelves, and interior woodwork for homes in the Fargo–Moorhead area.

A new business, built on real experience

I’ve worked in professional cabinetry and finish carpentry, and I’ve also taken on custom projects of my own — pieces where I handled everything from the first measurements to the final fit. That combination taught me something simple: the building is only half the job. The other half is how the piece meets your home.

Because Reform Home Co. is new, I’m building it the way I build cabinets — carefully, one project at a time. Every piece that leaves my shop carries my name on it, and I intend to keep it that way.

Why the fit matters

A cabinet can look great on paper and still need careful fitting once it reaches your kitchen. I pay attention to how the doors line up, how the panels meet the wall, and how the trim ties everything together. Those are the details you see every day.

Rooms aren’t square, walls aren’t straight, and floors slope a little. My job is to make the finished piece look like it was always meant to be there — which usually means measuring the actual space, not just the plan, and shaping edges and panels to what’s really there.

Materials I like to work with

I especially enjoy working with white oak. The grain has character without being loud, and it suits the kind of calm, modern rooms people ask me for. That said, I don’t build everything from white oak — maple, MDF for suitable paint-grade components, melamine cabinet components, other hardwoods, and sheet goods all have their place.

The right choice depends on the use, the appearance you want, your budget, and the environment the piece will live in. We’ll talk through that together before anything gets ordered.

Purposeful upgrades, honest scope

I started Reform Home Co. to do a specific kind of work: purposeful interior upgrades that make an existing home more functional and more finished. A cabinet that fits a space nothing off the shelf would. Storage where there used to be none. Trim that finally ties a room together. I’m not a general handyman, and I don’t take on full gut renovations — I’d rather do a smaller scope of work really well.

Some work falls outside what I do. Plumbing, electrical, waterproofing, and other regulated work need the right trades and the right permits. I’ll tell you plainly when part of your project calls for someone else, and I won’t pretend those arrangements are already in place.

How we’ll work together

When you contact Reform Home Co., you’re talking to me. I look at your photos, visit when the project needs it, build the work, and install it. There’s no handoff to a crew — just one person accountable for the fit.

If something in your home could work better, I’d like to hear about it. Send a few photos and tell me what’s on your mind — that’s enough to start. Here’s the process I propose, so you know what to expect.
